04/06/2005 People’s Advocate and National Tax Limitation Foundation file suit against the ICOC.
09/09/2005 The ICOC approves several multi-year stem cell research training grants.
04/06/2006 CIRM issues the first Prop. 71 grants to 16 California non-profit institutions totaling $12.1 million to train stem cell researchers.
04/21/2006 Alameda County Superior Court rules that Prop. 71 is constitutional. (People’s Advocate and National Tax Limitation Foundation v. ICOC)
05/25/2006 CIRM holds the first of several strategic plan meetings to gather information to help draft the strategic plan for CIRM funding.
06/14/2006 CIRM files a motion to expedite the appeal of Judge Sabraw's decision.
06/21/2006 First annual audit of CIRM financial statements, along with a subsequent review of that audit by the State Controller, are completed. CIRM receives a positive report.
07/13/2006 CIRM holds its second strategic planning meeting.
07/25/2006 CIRM holds a roundtable discussion with private sector representatives to address specific challenges and potential solutions in developing stem cell-related therapies and diagnostics.
07/18/2006 U.S. Senate passes the federal Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act (HR 810).
07/19/2006 President Bush vetoes HR 810.
07/20/2006 Governor Schwarzenegger loans $150 million to CIRM in response to Bush's veto of HR 810.
08/02/2006 ICOC approves plans to award 70 grants totaling $151.5 million to organizations conducting human embryonic stem cell research.
08/22/2006 CIRM solicits first research grant proposals and commits its first $100 million to fund human embryonic stem cell research at California institutions over four years.
02/14/2007 The State Court of Appeal hears oral arguments in the appeal of the Alameda County Superior Court decision.
02/16/2007 CIRM approves 72 grants totaling about $45 million over two years to researchers at 20 non-profit and academic research centers in California.

03/20/2007 The First District Court of Appeal of California denies the two petitions for rehearing in the litigation challenging Prop. 71's constitutionality. Plaintiffs file an appeal to the state Supreme Court.
05/16/2007 The California Supreme Court declines to hear an appeal in the litigation challenging Prop. 71's constitutionality. CIRM now expects to begin using the $3 billion in bonds authorized by Prop. 71.
06/05/2007 CIRM grants another $50 million to 17 California academic and non-profit institutions. Read more.
